A colleague of KuKuNehNeh (KKNN) forwarded her an email with the image above informing her of Rasa Sentosa Resort’s half price promotion and she immediately pounced on the offer and asked me to do the necessary bookings. Few women can resist things sold at half price. Not that I am complaining as she offered to pay for the stay.
It’s my 1st time staying at Rasa Sentosa Resort and KKNN’s 2nd and we chose the Panoramic Room which was priced at $227.50 after 50% discount.
- View outside of the balcony during the day
- View during dawn
- A potential storm threathens the peace of the dawn
- View inside of room
The view is quite lovely from the balcony I must say and the window that opens to the tub is quite cool but that is probably just a couple of the good things I have to say about Rasa Sentosa Resort.
I entered the room and just did a rough inspection just to make sure that everything is in order and part of that routine is to check under the bed for dead bodies. And though I didn’t find any, there was an empty bottle of the hotel’s complimentary water bottle left under the bed.
Not like the water bottle is chucked deep under the bed but it was near the edge and the attendant who cleaned the room prior to our check-in completely missed it.
And then a question comes up. Which 4-5 star hotel doesn’t have LCD TVs these days? I brought my HP Mini laptop along hoping to plug it in to an LCD TV to spend some of our time watching movies but I end up facing a stone age CRT TV with the wrong connectivity cables.
Hoping to better our stay at Rasa Sentosa Resort, we checked out the highest rated restaurant amongst the 2 that were listed down for the 50% promotion which was Barnacles Restaurant for dinner. We ended up heading for the other restaurant (which was almost fully booked by the way) because it was fully booked till 9.30pm. Rasa Sentosa Resort should have informed us of the popularity of the restaurants so that we could have made plans. It wouldn’t hurt to tell me during my telephone booking or included as a few lines of text in the email confirmation.
Dinner was settled at Silver Shell Cafe with a seafood buffet.
Nothing tasted awful but in fact, nothing tasted good as well. It’s one of those meals that you won’t remember eating after a few days.
And the worse thing about the whole stay? I was almost overcharged by at least $70 by Rasa Sentosa Resort. The bill looked suspiciously high even after a 50% discount for both the room and the buffet dinner and after checking it further, I realized that Silver Shell Cafe overcharged me by twice the amount I was supposed to pay. It was lucky that I kept the receipt from Silver Shell and checked the final bill before I left the resort.
The stay at Sentosa Resort and Spa was SO MUCH better. Weird thing is that KKNN and I still enjoyed our stay very much despite all the screw ups. Having each other is all that matters.
On that note, I’ll convince her that I’ll pay for the next weekend escapade at a cheap hotel. WAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
The face we are gonna make after she hears about the next escapade

No prizes for guessing who is BLUEy and who is GREENbean
I haven’t been updating on the lovebirds and so to summarize. Bluey has recovered from her toe injury and has been doing well. Greenbean proved that perseverance worked and he finally won Bluey’s heart (the other side of the story is that Bluey got horny and gave in) and they actually started a family… or at least tried to. Bluey laid 4 eggs in total but only 1 egg managed to hatch and what better to name the little lovebird than Uno!
Uno is here in my house this week because she is just short of 3 weeks old and needs to be hand fed 4-5 times a day to ensure that her cut tummy is satisfied and she becomes tame from all the human handling.
Hi! I'm Uno and I'm 3 weeks old!
The picture above either makes people squeal in delight or disgust so bear with me if you belong to the latter group.
It is by no means an easy feat to hand feed baby lovebirds with her being so young. Bluey was already close to 4 weeks old when we got her and we only need to feed her 2 times a day. Uno was robbed extracted from the nest at 14 days old and needs to be fed 5-6 times a day. Her baby formula has to be also at the right temperature at 41 to 42°C. Too cold and she’ll refuse to eat it; too hot and I’ll cook her inside out.
Uno is quite travelled for her young age and has been staying at Ang Mo Kio, went to Rasa Sentosa Resort for a stay over the weekend and is now residing at Jurong West for the week. So to make her feel more at home, I made a little tent for her.
The strand of millet is to encourage her to wean.
Yup. Uno has a tent in her tank.
Like the last time when I had Bluey over for 4 days, I just hope I keep little Uno alive so that KuKuNehNeh keeps me alive.
HUAT AHHHHH!!!!
Check Uno’s growth process at KuKuNehNeh’s blog.
Day 1
Day 4
Day 9
Day 14
Uno grows almost as fast as a magic bean sprout!

- Remove you from their clique because you don’t meet up often enough to their expectations.
- Remove you from their clique because they don’t like your bf/gf.
- Remove you from their clique because you decide to be the bad guy and out one of the members on his/her much gossiped about wrong doings in hope of helping him/her.
- Remove you from their clique because they decided that you have changed and they cannot accept it.
- Remove you from their clique.
The last point isn’t a typo. Best friends simply do not remove you from their clique.
They don’t ignore your emails and sms-es. They don’t ‘degrade’ your friendship just because you have changed. Such best friends are better off as just acquaintances or even in the ignore list.
Good luck to people who pose as best friends in cliques. Wake up one day and realize that the very same reasons that you have ousted someone out for is being replicated by some of you. Watch in horror as the group dwindle in numbers as you realize that the same things they do to the ‘former best friends’ can be also done to you.
People cannot prove themselves in times of peace, only in trouble when you realize who your friends really are.

Yeah I did it! I finished the whole of 21km despite my initial worries about the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run and Army Half Marathon 2009.
It is my very 1st time participating in a public mass running event (The Big Walk doesn’t count right?) and the very first time at attempting to run a distance of 21km.
I did predict that I would probably finish the race in 2hrs 30mins – 2hrs 45 mins and my timing is very far off from the predictions but I didn’t expect it to be a painful one! My body started to breakdown at the 14km mark and I had to adopt a run-walk-run method to be able to finish the race.
I knew I was putting in too much effort when my heart rate monitor told me that my heart was beating at 189 beats per minute which is the highest I have ever seen from all the runs I did before in my training runs. The over-exertion was also confirmed by the chills running through my body when my heart rate was that high.
There was mostly sweaty men surrounding me and no babes around me to attribute the high heart rate to and so from the 14km – 15km mark, I decided to run based on my heart rate which was probably the smartest decision made that day. I stopped to walk when my heart rate started to hit a high and started to run again when it’s lower and stabilized.
At the 17km – 18km mark, I started to develop cramps on both of my lower quads and eventually my left ankle. It was very punishing to walk much less to run but I told myself to ‘finish strong’ and I made myself run the last 1.5km – 2km through the finishing line.
I don’t have the experience of running other races to compare how well the organizers did for this one but I think I enjoyed it pretty much. The water points are plenty and nicely spaced out; there were many musical performances throughout the route that provided morale boosting beats; queues at the end of the race for the medals are almost non-existent.
Other runners also provided great entertainment. There was a runner whose watch beeped constantly throughout his run. In my head I went, “BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP…….”. There was an uncle who let out a pretty wet fart when I was jogging right behind him though it could have been the sound of his turbo boost as he sped away after that.
Much thanks to KuKuNehNeh for waking up early with me at 3am to prepare breakfast and to drive me there where she waited a good 3 hrs and more for me to finish the run.
*MUACKS*!!!!
I am quite looking forward to the full marathon in December despite aching from head to toe right now. Now pardon me as I end this post to get up painfully from this chair to get a drink by walking like a guy with swollen testicles heading for the fridge.
