That Ain’t Poo! It’s……
I was sitting on the couch with Bluey perched on my left shoulder when I felt a warm sensation just above my shoulder blade. Thinking that Bluey has used me as a toilet again, I turned my head to the left as I tried to look for the poo and looking very much like a bad impersonation of an owl; I spotted a black spot and turned around to call out to KuKuNehNeh.
“Eh Dear, I think Bluey shit on me, help me wipe leh.”
She was handling Greenbean and automatically grabbed a sheet of toilet paper and walked towards me.
She paused in her footsteps and spoke with mirth in her voice, “Dear! That is not shit!”
“Huh? Then what is that?”
“IT IS YOUR MOLE LAR!”
Our lovebirds, Bluey and Greenbean bring such joy and laughter in our lives and as much it is painful to see them not getting along even after spending 4 weeks together, it is even more painful to see that Bluey’s injured toe is still not healing despite all the medication thus far. The pus in Bluey’s left toe has not even shrunk a millimetre and the poor bird has visible patches all over her body due to all the feather dropping she has been experiencing for the past 3-4 weeks. We are seeing the vet, Dr. Gloria of Mt. Pleasant soon this Friday and we would probably ask if she is confident enough to do an operation to take out the pus. She has expressed before that it is difficult to operate on a bird of Bluey’s size but we hope that it can be done.
I really, really hope the best for Bluey’s toe, the last thing we want for the intelligent, adorable, 5-month-old lovebird is to have her lose her life or a leg.
