Singtel has won the bid over Starhub to broadcast the Barclays Premier League (BPL) for 3 seasons beginning 2010 and boy am I pissed.

Pissed because the reason I pay $52.73 monthly for my Starhub CableTV is for the $25 component that says “Sports Group”. And it may jolly well be named as “BPL Group”, because the only thing I really watch on Starhub CableTV is BPL football.

So if you take away the only reason I am paying FIFTY-TWO DOLLARS and SEVENTY-THREE CENTS every month, please don’t expect me to pay for Starhub CableTV come October 2010.

It’s easy to blame Singtel for this situation as they have taken the whole pie out of the plate leaving nothing to eat for the diners at Starhub’s table. Sentiments I garnered from Twitter proved that most are pissed with Singtel or/and Starhub and only a couple celebrating (Presumably the rare ones that are actually subscribed to Singtel’s mio TV).

I initially felt the same anger towards Starhub for not bidding hard enough to retain the rights and Singtel for greedily taking the pie which they never ever had in the first place. But then again, it’s all business. Instead of the possibility of sharing the pie, it was all or nothing.

I’m gonna boycott both cable tv providers next year once BPL screening makes the switch. No way I am paying to switch providers every 3 years just to watch football.

I realize that I have huge problems in maintaining friendships.

Part of the problem is the lack of contact if they don’t share the same social media space as me and another bigger part has to be my stinginess in sharing my time. Apart from work, I have the tendency to divide a huge chunk of my time to the girlfriend, most of the rest to social media and close to none to family and friends. It does look very unbalanced but I can hardly imagine spending any lesser time with the gf. Not that she would castrate me if I see her less. And my mind seems to find peace in thinking that the amount of time spent on social media is the substitute for socializing and probably beats meeting friends up in real life as I can probably communicate with much more people with the same allocated time.

Of course the argument is fatally flawed judging from the fact that I have lost touch with friends that I considered myself close with like my primary/secondary school pals, my BMT platoon mates, my RSAF course-mates/colleagues and my WLNY buddies. There are probably more groups that I may have left out but the same outcome applies to all. The bonds all whittled away as I stopped seeing them in the flesh; with clothes of course.

I really should rethink on my time distribution and make more effort to meet these important friends in my life up or else they will all just be a statistical number in my Facebook account.

I created a page sometime back with absolutely no plan in mind on how I am going to utilize it. My erm… ‘adoring fans’ have since grown to a size of 46 as of the time I am writing this blog post and it’s about time I figure out what to give to the fans in facebook besides the rubbish I give everyone in this blog.

So, I have decided to make the facebook fan page a bonus for krisandro.com! Much like extended/uncut/bonus DVD movie releases of extra booby footage, the fans on facebook will get updates that won’t be found on krisandro.com!

How exciting is that? It’s just like the time when you discovered that kissing couldn’t make girls pregnant.
