When I Was Young, I Wanted To Be A…
Everyone probably has some dream job(s) that they wanted from a young age. It could stem from parental or peer influence. It could have been from a hobby that you have or even from a show that you watched from TV. Some yearn to be the conventional ones like engineers, teachers, doctors and lawyers. Some hope to be the unconventional ones such as dancers, pro-gamers and erm.. pornstars.
NOT THAT I WANTED TO BE ONE OKAY? I am just listing down some examples.
*cough cough*
Anyway, some of the jobs that wanted when I was young are as follows.
I wanted to be a… Football Player!
My love for football started when I was 13 years of age. It all started with 4 – 5 guys kicking a plastic ball at a void deck and the gang soon grew to almost 20 people who played almost everyday at the basketball courts and the fields on weekends. I thought I was pretty good back then and went for a football trial for some semi-pro league team. It was then I realized that there were about 1,653,618,273,635 players on that day that were better than me. I hardly made any impact at all on the field and did some tricks that were more entertaining than practically useful. It was of no surprise that I went home with nothing but a bruised ego.
I wanted to be a… Model!
Well. This is an awkward one. WAHAHHAHAAHAHAA! During a certain period in my teens, I keep getting compliments from people I meet about my looks and I thought that modeling sounds like a pretty easy job. Let’s just say that reality hit pretty hard and fast for this dream of mine.
I wanted to be a… Teacher!
I want to teach classes with lots of hot students. All the sweet young things will all be clamoring over me while I brush them away while maintaining my suaveness. The sexy fellow teachers will also be yearning for my attention as I parade in the office. My Principal will have to be a MILF as well.
I wanted to teach children to better the world!
=D
So! What did you want to be when you were young?

A headline on Monday’s edition of The New Paper (article on asianone) grabbed my attention and it read,
Yep. This man named David Tian, claims that he has “been intimate with 30 women in two months”. He also claims to be able to “make Singapore men more suitable suitors and, thus, ease Singapore’s procreation woes.”
Telling it to the papers with your face printed all over? That’s like walking into club and telling everyone through a mic that you are a player. It may be true and the men will applaud but it seriously dampens your chances with the chicks dude.
I am not a woman, but if I were one, I don’t want to procreate with a man taught by someone who gets intimate with 30 women in just the space of two months.
*hears the distant cry of a man who shot his own foot*

I am very bad with directions and have trouble remembering how to get from point A to B even if I might have traveled the same route before. Streetdirectory.com was my savior back then and even so, I have been hating the cluttered layout and lack of support for SMRT buses in their route planning for public transport. But compared to the other local map directories, streetdirectory.com was the best.
Streetdirectory.com was sued by Singapore Land Authority (SLA) last year over the usage of their maps and it took very long bring back the maps to the needy locals like me and probably lost quite a large number of following in the period of time. I do have to highlight that the facebook group has quite an impressive following of 5K+ members.
But thanks to the e27 conference that I’ve attended in July, I got to know about a local startup by 3 young men called GoThere.sg. There were many interesting web startups that thay but GoThere.sg was definitely the highlight for me. After using it for months and months, I reaffirm that it is everything that streetdirectory.com should be and MORE.
Clean Interface
Messy Streetdirectory.com
VS
Neat Gothere.sg
Compared to the clutter of Streetdirectory.com, Gothere.sg is a great relief to the eyes. There have just undergone a face-lift and it looks aestheically pleasing while retaining the clutter-free interface.
Leveraging on a Great Product

Gothere.sg’s maps are based on the already wonderful product that is of Google Maps. If you guys have ever used Google Maps before, I am sure you’ll marvel at the speed and the ease of navigation. What Gothere.sg did was to add overlays of local information like block numbers, building names, bus stop locations coupled with bus services and even ERP gantry locations. This made a great product even better and relevant to the locals.
Excellent Public Transport Guide

This has to be the most important for me and people who do not own a car. Choose where you are going from and where you are off to and Gothere.sg will tell you how to drive there or how to travel to the destination via public transport with two options, ‘Bus only’ OR ‘Bus and Train’. Gothere.sg plans your route with train and bus information from both SBS AND SMRT.
Other Great Features

Clicking icons on the maps like Parking, ERP and Bus Stops gives you information like parking fees, ERP car rates, bus services and timings (for SBS via IRIS).
Gothere.sg allows the embedding of their map to help you share the route/information you found on a website.
Gothere.sg is still an infant compared to Streetdirectory.com but has already surpassed their predessesor in so many aspects. I do hope that the guys at Gothere.sg can find ways to monetize the site while keeping the clutter to a minimum like the way it is now. One can only hope for more improvements and have it grow and not die off like many web startups we have all seen that died prematurely.
Trust me on this one. Forget about Streetdirectory.com. GoThere.sg is the answer! Spread the word!

I am thinking very seriously about setting up a couple of niche blogs to isolate the persona that is of krisandro in this website. This website has always been the only outlet for me to express my thoughts and relate the lighter side of my life as I wanted readers to just come in and read rubbish that is easy on the brain and hopefully draw a giggle or a laugh from the likes of you.
The good thing about having just one personal blog like this, is that it makes it easier for me to keep my thoughts consolidated. The cons of the very same point is that the topics are so diverse that it is impossible for a casual reader or an advertiser to understand what the site is about.
Since I enjoy writing and creating content for people to read, why not set up a niche blog or two that is of my specific interests and have it grow and popularize and earn some money along the way?
I brought this idea up on a and it was interesting to see the thoughts of so many people. Some of my criteria for the future blogs so far are:
1. Something of my interest.
2. Able to capture Asian or Global Audience.
3. A funky/easy-to-remember URL!
Any suggestions, ideas or feedback anyone?
